First established in 1931, Evanston Photographic Studios has an archive of original photographs dating back to 1931 and beyond. Some of the images date back to the turn of the century, the previous turn of the century, that is!
The archive is shared, in part, with the Evanston History Center, Northwestern University and Shorefront Legacy Center.
While many of the archival images are cataloged, many more are waiting to be added to the list. As you can imagine digitizing 100’s of 1,000’s of photos is an expensive and an ongoing task. If you have a specific location in mind please contact us.
Please be aware we do charge a minimum research fee, once we have an idea what you are looking for. All the archive images are provided as rights managed and may not be reproduced without prior consent. Licensing of certain images may be possible.
As with all of our images on this site and elsewhere, we reserve all rights to the work.

Archive Print Prices
All archive prints are custom printed on archive quality papers. Prices are for prints only, if you require matting and or framing we can provide appropriate pricing but many factors make it very difficult to give a generalized estimate. Shipping costs will be determined by size of print/shipping method. We advise purchasing your own frame locally to avoid extra shipping costs.
Print pricing for the first print: 8″x 10″- $50.00, 11″x 14″ -$75.00, 16″x 20″ -$100.00. Print sizes above 16″x 20″ are available and will be quoted at the time of ordering. Multiple copies of a single image are available and will be quoted at time of ordering. All prints are purchased with an understanding they may not be reproduced in any manner without prior written consent. Purchase of a print does not imply any transfer or licensing of rights to the image other than personal display. We charge a handling fee of $50.00 per image to cover costs of shipping the negative(s) to and from the printer. If you would like multiple images please contact us so we can provide an estimate. All prices herein are for black & white archive quality prints only.
